2010 TheATLAS Biennial Conference2010 Final Program2010 ProceedingsTheATLAS Transdisciplinary-Transnational-Transcultural biennial meeting held in Georgetown, Texas on May 23-28, 2010 was a great success. TheATLAS Transdisciplinary-Transnational-Transcultural biennial meeting honoring Red McCombs was held at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas on May 23-28, 2010. Transdisciplinary Sustainable Development was the main theme of the conference. The meeting was sponsored by The Academy of Transdisciplinary Learning & Advanced Studies (TheATLAS) and Southwestern University, Georgetown, Texas. Co-sponsors of the meeting were City of Georgetown, Georgetown Chamber of Commerce, Georgetown Economic Development, Transdisciplinary Sustainable Energy Research Lab (T-SER), Texas Tech University, Academy of Transdisciplinary Studies (ATS), Texas Tech University, George Kozmetsky Endowment (GKE) and Texas Disposal Systems (TDS). Southwestern University was the local host. Plenary sessions and keynote panels were presented by prominent speakers. We were very happy to have many known researchers from transdisciplinarity community as plenary session speakers such as Dr. Basarab Nicolescu, Dr. Julie Thompson Klein and Dr. Christian Pohl and many others. May be for the first time, this conference brought researchers from social science, natural science, humanities and engineering to discuss and understand the complex issues related to development of global sustainable societies.
2010 TheATLAS Biennial Conference AwardsDr. Basarab Nicolescu, Dr. Julie Thompson Klein, Dr. Christian Pohl, Dr. J. Tsia and Margo Dover received the Ramamoorthy & Yeh Transdisciplinary Distinguished Achievement Award. Red McCombs and Lily Yeh received the Academy Gold Medal of Honor Award. Looking back to on 2010 TheATLAS - T3 Conference, we feel that its success was due very largely to the consistent excellence, as well as the variety, of the program. This meeting was one of our most enjoyable conference experiences. We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to all the participants for their contribution to make the conference successful.
